Erie County is divided into 17 political jurisdictions and has a population of 79,551.
It has three cities:
- Huron 7,958
- Sandusky 26,216 The County Seat
- Vermilion 4,937 (Vermilion lies in both Erie and Lorain Counties. This is the population of the Erie County portion only.)
There are five villages:
- Bay View 692
- Berlin Heights 685
- Castalia 935
- Kelleys Island 367
- Milan 1,025
There are nine townships:
- Berlin 3,017
- Florence 2,500
- Groton 1,384
- Huron 2,572
- Margaretta 4,662
- Milan 2,661
