Mission

Family & Workforce Development offers assistance with finding employment as well as helping eligible individuals with Medicaid, food stamps, cash assistance, and child care needs. Needs that we are unable to fulfill within the Family & Workforce Development Unit are referred to other available community resources. It is the goal of the Family and Workforce Department to help each family attain family stability. 

Employment

We are aware of what jobs are available in the community. Ohio Means Jobs Online is an external website which not only allows the job seeker to search for employment, but also supplies valuable employment information. We can help you find employment if you are unemployed or find higher paying employment if you are currently working. We help schedule employment interviews, help job seekers complete employment applications, complete resumes, and assist them in accessing the Internet.

Training & Education

Payment for short term and vocational training such as truck driving school, certified nurse’s aid, medical secretary, welding and computer training may also be available as well as payment for books and fees. Longer term training and education may be available through the Workforce Investment Act.

Health Care Coverage

Free or low cost health care coverage for your children or for your entire family is available for those who qualify through the Healthy Start / Healthy Families Program.

Medicaid, Food Stamps, Nursing Home Care, Child Care and Cash Assistance:

Medicaid for the aged, blind, disabled, pregnant women, children and families is available for eligible individuals. Food stamps and cash assistance through Ohio Works First (OWF) and Prevention, Retention, and Contingency program (PRC) is also available. In addition, help can be extended in paying the cost of nursing home care and child care expenses. Applications are available upon request so determination of eligibility can be explored. 

Additional Programs

Other programs available for Ohio’s working families may be available to help with work support and retention services including training and supplies for your new job. 

Fraud Unit

Family & Workforce Development actively pursues collection of payments issued to a participant in error. The Fraud Unit investigates taxpayer complaints.
