NRCS also provides the most current information for soils in the Web Soil Survey (WSS) application. This is a comprehensive, interactive application that allows the user many options in display, analysis and reporting of soils information. The information contained on this site is the official soils information for Erie County, Ohio.

Digital Soil Survey (DSS)
The Digital Soil Survey (DSS) is a product developed to view Ohio soil surveys with a computer. All the information contained in the traditional bound soil surveys is available in the DSS, including the maps.
All the software necessary to view the soil survey and the map are available on the CD. Due to the large amount of data on the DSS it is not feasible to distribute via the internet if users wishing to obtain a copy have dial-up. Dial-up users may obtain a CD of the survey by mail or pick it up at the district office. For those users who have broadband/DSL the CD image (ISO file - 640MB) is available for you to download, save and burn onto a blank CD-R.
